Ridge Carbide TS2000 10x40T Saw Blade
While no single blade is perfect for every job, The TS2000 is simply one of the best all-around table saw blades on the market, consistently scoring at or near the top of every category of every magazine comparison test you’re likely to find. For the past ten years, this is the blade we’ve relied upon to help demonstrate the incredible performance of INCRA Table Saw Systems at woodworking shows.
It’s no secret that a sharper blade works better, so Ridge Carbide finishes the tops and faces of the teeth with 1,200 grit diamond wheels. The tips literally gleam. In addition, the TS2000 has some special value to owners of INCRA saw fence systems that may not be quite as obvious:
- The kerf is exactly 1/8” wide, so it’s easy to get precisely-sized narrow parts off the left side of the blade – edge banding, splines, inlay stock, etc. The kerf also simplifies the math for cutting grooves and joinery.
- Every fifth tooth is a flat top raker, so it cuts a nearly flat-bottomed groove. This feature makes it great for slotting operations and ideal for table saw-based joinery – tenons, half-lap joints, and two-kerf rabbets.
- The blade body is a massive 1/10” thick. This blade is stiff, and that means less wandering along the grain on rip cuts and super consistent joinery. This blade is so stiff that Ridge Carbide doesn’t even offer a damper for it.
As with the RS1000 crosscutting bade, extra-thick carbide tips means the TS2000 can be sharpened 20-25 times, giving these blades a life expectancy of 10 to 20 years in a typical home shop. Talk about value!
If you’ve been spending $50-$60 on mass-market blades of different colors, treat yourself to a premium blade. Instead of gimmicks like fancy paint and vibration reducing gizmos, your money buys you top-shelf materials, razor sharpness, and tight manufacturing tolerances. To put it another way: You’ll spend $200-$300 in sharpening costs over the life of any blade, so does it really make sense to give up performance by spending less on the initial purchase?
