Ridge Carbide RS1000 10x60T Saw Blade
A premium general purpose blade like Ridge Carbide’s TS2000 can deliver excellent performance across a remarkable range of operations. As crosscutting blades go, Ridge Carbide RS1000 is quite versatile. In addition to super clean cuts in hardwoods, this blade shines when both ripping and crosscutting veneered plywood. Rather than having a zillion teeth or negative hook angle that limit its range of applications, the RS1000’s top-shelf materials, razor sharpness, and fantastic workmanship allow it to generally outperform more specialized mass-market blades.
The 60-tooth alternate top bevel configuration features a high-angle 30 degree bevel grind to shear the wood’s fibers for super smooth crosscuts in hardwoods, and the shallow +5 degree of hook angle produces a very clean bottom surface on veneered plywoods and melamine-coated sheet goods without slowing your feed rate to a crawl (if you’ve ever used an 80-tooth, negative-rake blade, you know exactly what we’re describing).
The RS1000 is primarily for cross-cutting and sheet goods. It will produce super-smooth rip cuts in hardwoods up to 1” thick, but you’ll need to be patient. As with any blade with a lot of teeth and not much hook angle, it simply won’t accept the fast feed rates of a ripping blade.
As with the TS2000general purpose bade, extra-thick carbide tips means the RS1000 can be sharpened 20-25 times, giving these blades a life expectancy of 10 to 20 years in a typical home shop. Talk about value!
